hehe that made me giggle, you knows it!
Yes rave culture stemmed from the ‘Casuals’ or ‘Soul boys/girls’ of the early 80’s who were known for wearing sports clothes as well as the odd burbery item, leather jackets were also in especialy the ‘hunter’ style, which for some reason always had to be burgandy, or you could wear a box jacket or Blousonne…god how do i remember all this stuff 😎
That looks and sounds like a blatant (and very bad ) copy of a short anti-war film I made, cut to Bob Marleys ‘War’
ggrrrrrr
I would post it up but cant access my webspace.
Hello, I am new to this forum and am also a VJ, losts of interesting things being discussed in this forum that I can totally relate to.
‘there’s a great free download for winamp called milkdrop which has 100’s of different syncopated visualisations of the music.’
I know the guy that made that, although I have never used it myself, however there is a general feeling in the semi-pro vj community that VJs using winamp visualisations are downgrading the market, how can vjs justify their time and effort in creating original material in terms of payment when another vj will turn up and play winamp all night, I am not saying this is what you do, and personally I have never even seen a winamp visualisation, but this is the general feeling of some VJs.
“CHAAANGE THE PAAATCH! EVERYONES LEEEEAVING THE DAAAAAANCE FLOOOOOOOOOOOR!”
Reading that made me laugh soooo much, I do a fair amount of political VJing and I remember when I first started out I totally misjudged the tone of parties at times, people don’t want to see too much heavy shit when they are out having a good time, you can still be political but make it witty and entertaining and you will get a much better response.
If any of you have heard of the vjs yeast then you should learn from them as they are the kings of the political and entertaining narrative Visuals see their website here http://www.yeastdirections.org.uk
I agree that there should be more visuals at free parties but most VJs just do not want to risk bringing £10k’s worth of kit to a dodgy venue, however I will check out this suggestion ‘go searching on google and media techie boards for how freelance news crews operate (particularly those in war zones); they often they mention how they pack and protect their equipment at the frontline’ my day job is based in a broadcast news company so I will have a bit of a nose about wand talk to some of the camera men etc.
Anyway keep it coming folks, is good to have the thing I love the most being discussed like this. 🙂
